My first experience with fasting was in the context of church community. I’ve never been interested in going hours without food and digesting only liquids and fruit.
When seeking clarity and answers from the Divine. I chose to take a break from using my phone. Sometimes I use my phone to distract myself. Which creates more havoc on my anxious mind. I’m in serious need of a detox. During the detox, I experienced withdrawals, reaching for my phone like a nervous twitch, when my bright device is out of reach. There was a time that I turned off my phone for 1-week. It was peaceful for me, and created worry when others couldn’t reach me.
I made the agreement then, that I would only take part in lifestyle choices, according to what I needed and what felt right. The act of love, being true to myself, sits well with me. So I write this post, according to my personal needs. When I need a mental cleanse and lifestyle reset, I make changes, some may call drastic. It’s important for me to be in tune with my body, and when my balance is off, I have to choose the best medicine.
After a fast I can truly say, 𝐼𝓉 𝒾𝓈 𝓌𝑒𝓁𝓁.
“The purpose of fasting is to loosen to some degree the ties which bind us to the world of material things and our surroundings as a whole, in order that we may concentrate all our spiritual powers upon the unseen and eternal things.”
